Is Your Office Tech Older Than Your Intern?

And why you really need to care by October 2025.

  • Does your office PC still boot up with that comforting Windows XP chime?

  • Does your printer scream like it’s haunted?

  • Are your important files living on a USB stick with a keychain from 2009?

If your tech is older than your intern - or even just starting to make a weird groaning sound when you boot it up - we need to talk.

And thanks to some big changes from Microsoft, it’s officially time to stop ignoring the warning signs.

Windows 10 End of Life: What’s Actually Happening?

On 14 October 2025, Microsoft is ending all updates and support for Windows 10.
No more security patches. No more critical updates. No more safety nets.

What does this mean for you?

Your PC - and your business - will be left wide open to malware, ransomware, and cyber-attacks.

In short: if you’re still using Windows 10 after that date, you might as well leave your front door unlocked with a sign that says: “Come on in and rob us.’’

Outdated Tech Is Not Quirky, It's a Huge Risk

Sure, your ancient laptop technically still works. But so does a floppy disk - and we’re not exactly building empires with those anymore.

Old tech isn’t just slow. It’s extremely vulnerable

We get that every business wants to save money and stretch out hardware for as long as possible. But if you’re trying to save money by not upgrading, it could cost you way more in the long run.

When you don’t upgrade, you risk:

  • No longer being supported by security updates

  • Being wide open to malware and viruses

  • Facing serious data breaches

  • Slowing down your entire network

  • Looking seriously outdated to clients

And honestly, it’s not the best look when a client walks in and your desktop sounds like it’s loading from a potato.

Keeping that dusty desktop is like wearing a hazmat suit to an Ebola outbreak and forgetting to zip it up.

It’s... not helping.

The “Face Mask Under the Nose” of Business IT

You wouldn't wear a face mask under your nose and call yourself protected (Wait... would you?).

Outdated computers and unsupported operating systems are the same - false confidence with very real consequences.

They might look fine on the outside, but under the surface? Your data, your network, and your business are all exposed.

So, What Should You Actually Do?

If your hardware is pushing 10 years old (or older), it’s time for an upgrade. No debate. If it’s younger than that, here’s what you should do next:

  • Step one: Check if your current PC can run Windows 11.

You can do that by downloading the Microsoft PC Health Check tool here:
    [Download here]

  • Once downloaded, run the file called WindowsPCHealthCheckSetup, and click the Check Now button.

  • If your PC can handle Windows 11 - great! You’re good for now.

  • If your PC can't handle Windows 11 - then it’s time to talk to your IT team about upgrading before you end up in full crisis mode.

  • And if your computer wheezes just trying to open an email? Honestly, it's probably time either way.

Upgrading Isn’t About Buying Fancy Toys

We’re not here to sell you the latest shiny gadget for no reason. We’re here to protect your business - and make your life easier.

Upgrading your tech means:

  • Your software stays supported and secure

  • Your team works faster and smarter

  • You future-proof your business against modern threats

  • You avoid that 4:59 PM Friday meltdown when the printer jams (again)

TL;DR?

If your computer still runs on vibes and duct tape, it's time to move on. And if you're still relying on Windows 10 after October 2025 - you're basically inviting cyber trouble over for a cup of tea.

Now’s the time to:

  • Audit your current setup (we can help)

  • Check your Windows 11 compatibility

  • Make a smart upgrade plan

  • Stop clinging to tech that's secretly holding you back
